PS3 Hacked by GeoHot: A First Look at Exploited Console

Yesterday we posted an article which informed readers that Sony’s PlayStation 3 has now been successfully hacked, more details are now emerging along with an image of the hacked console.

The console was hacked George Hotz (geohotz on Twitter), he is still remaining very secretive about the hack and insists that he does not condone piracy, he also reveals that the hack will not work with the PS3 Slim.

The only image of the hacked console can be seen here, as you can see it does not resemble a PS3 whatsoever, and just goes to show how complicated it has been for Hotz to hack.

It is thought that it took Hotz 5 weeks to hack the console and there are still some problems, apparently the “MMIO over SPI doesn’t appear to work”, exactly what that is, is beyond me.

As more information regarding the PS3 hack is revealed we will keep you posted, for more details check out Hotz’s blog.
