PS Vita, PS4 even better with Remote Play anywhere

If you still don’t own a PS Vita, now may be the best time to start considering a purchase than ever before. We recently had the amazing confirmation from Sony that the majority of PS4 games would support Remote Play streaming. Now, it gets even better with the apparent confirmation that streaming is also going to work via internet connections away from home as well.

Previously, it was assumed that PS4 and PS Vita remote play functionality may only be possible when using a strong WiFi connection inside the home. However, Sony’s popular ‘Twitter’ president Shuhei Yoshida has revealed in a new message that PS4 remote play on PS Vita outside of the home will be dependent on the internet connection that you are using.

Just to give you an idea of the context of that possibility, it could mean that you could essentially play your copy of Killzone Shadow Fall in another country, whilst on holiday using a WiFi connection somewhere else. That would be an amazing prospect to look forward to, especially with Sony’s aim to bring remote play to the majority of PS4 software titles.

If Sony gets it right technically, it could end up being the number one feature of the PlayStation 4. It could also in turn drive PS Vita sales through the roof, as who wouldn’t want to take their PS4 titles on the road whilst enjoying your favorite caramel latte in Starbucks?

We can admit that our PS Vita isn’t used too much these days since launch, but that would firmly change if Sony really were to implement stable remote play PS4 streaming via any internet connection, anywhere in the world. Don’t forget that users previously had the ability to turn on the PS3 console using the PSP, so it is definitely something that is possible from Sony’s technical wizards.

What are your thoughts on this – remote play PS4 games on your PS Vita, anywhere. Sounds amazing right?
