PS Vita needs GamesCom spotlight too, Sony

After bringing their PS4 in playable format to Comic Con 2013, attention now shifts to the much more significant GamesCom 2013 expo in Cologne, Germany. Sony will be holding another press conference and we now have the confirmed start time to give you. It also looks like the company will be focusing on pushing the PS4 again, but we also hope that the PS Vita is not forgotten, as it could also do with another showing.

GamesCom is going to be another opportunity to go hands-on with the next-gen system, with Sony bound to offer some play time with upcoming games such as Killzone Shadow Fall, right on the show floor. It’s going to be an amazing experience if you managed to grab tickets, but for everyone else – the wait for a live stream confirmation is the next big thing.

Sony has now confirmed that their GamesCom press conference will take place on Tuesday, August 20 at 7pm CET or 6pm BST. They have also confirmed that the PS4 is going to be the main highlight of the show, but we think the PS Vita needs adequate time as well. Apart from Killzone Mercenary and Final Fantasy X HD, the PS Vita software lineup is again looking incredibly thin, while Sony seems to have stopped bringing new apps to the system as well which is disappointing to see.

Sony regretted not showing enough of PS Vita at previous press conferences, so hopefully they won’t make the same mistake twice. If we were to make one suggestion, it would be to bring a PS4 and PS Vita on to the stage and demo live to the world how remote play will operate exactly between PS4 and PS Vita for Killzone Shadow Fall.

It would do wonders to promote the PS Vita hardware and help to shift more units, whilst at the same time giving PS4 consumers even more reason to buy into the system on day one. If they just leave the PS Vita out of GamesCom, it would send the wrong message across we feel.

Would you like to see more of the PS Vita at GamesCom next month?
