PS Vita may get Metal Gear Solid sub-game

We have some potentially exciting news for Metal Gear Solid fans now, especially those with a PS Vita. Konami may have recently offered a legacy collection of Metal Gear Solid for console, but now we hear whispers emerging that the classic Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions side-game may be coming to Sony’s PS Vita handheld later this year.

Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions was the add-on content that was initially part of Metal Gear Solid Integral, which was then released as a separate disc in the US and Europe in 1999. Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 had the first taster of VR missions, allowing the player to get to grips with the main nuts and bolts of the game in a series of virtual reality tasks.

The expansion then brought a further 300 training missions for fans to work through, offering varying degrees of difficulty and helping to separate itself from the main Metal Gear Solid game. Now we hear that these training missions may be coming to the PlayStation Network, for support for the PS3 and PS Vita.

A listing for the game has shown up on the ESRB ratings website, which is usually a very reliable indication that the game is on the way soon. It goes without saying that this has yet to be confirmed by either Sony or Konami, but we have a feeling that Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions may just turn out to be one of Sony’s planned announcements at GamesCom 2013 in August next month.

It would be an excellent addition to the PS Vita lineup, but hopefully Konami won’t get too greedy with the asking price. Players won’t want to pay full price for this, so somewhere perhaps in the region of $15-20 would be a great move. Do you have fond memories of Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions? If so, let us know if you would be willing to buy this game or not.
