PS Vita classics via PlayStation Home to boost 2013 content

We have some positive news for PS Vita owners now and the first signs that Sony are still working hard to bring new features to the system that is taking a lot of heat at the moment. Sony has announced that PlayStation Home functionality is coming to the PS Vita in the form of the PS Home Arcade, allowing users to play some of the classic PlayStation Home arcade titles such as Asteroid directly on the handheld.

The app should be available from your respective PS Vita store and is a free download. Games will cost $1.49 to play, but Sony are throwing in a few titles such as WipEout 2D and Icebreaker for free to get you started. There’s also a demo for the popular game Scribble Shooter for those that enjoyed playing that game on the PS3 Home portal.

If you have previously purchased some of the arcade cabinets when playing on the PS3 version of PlayStation Home, you’ll be pleased to hear that they will now be available on the PS Vita arcade at no extra cost. You can see a full list of the arcade games that are coming over on the PS Blog here – there’s some nice additions such as Centipede and Mad Blocker as well.

It’s not a brand new AAA game that the PS Vita needs this year, but it’s definitely a good start. As we progress through 2013, let us know what you would like to see on PS Vita to justify picking up the system at launch at the start of last year or even at the end of 2011 if you purchased an Asian model.

What is the killer game that would be perfect on the Vita, but has yet to arrive?
