If you own a PS Vita, you are probably wondering what an earth has happened to the elusive Bioshock game that was thought to be in development for Sony’s handheld, after previously being announced at E3 2011. The good news, is that we can tell you that the game hasn’t been cancelled, with Irrational Games head Ken Levine saying that the game is still in the pipeline for a release.
The game was a highly anticipated project throughout most of 2012, but unfortunately the last substantial details that we heard on the game, was that Bioshock for the PS Vita was being put on hold as the team concentrated on putting their efforts on the release of Bioshock Infinite for consoles and PC.
Fast forward to Summer 2013 and there’s still no remote sign of the game releasing in the near future. Fortunately, Ken Levine has dropped a brief status update on the game and has said that the game is still alive. When replying to a user on Twitter about what has happened to the game, Levine posted the following update:
RT @jamwa: @IGLevine What's going on with the Vita project? –I talked to both Sony and 2k about it yesterday. Trying to make a match.
— Ken Levine (@IGLevine) July 13, 2013
As you can see, it’s refreshing to hear that Levine has been pestering both Sony and Bioshock publishers 2K to finally get some sort of green light on the game. We previously heard that the game may have been held up specifically due to financial reasons, so hopefully this is sorted out soon as it would easily become one of the standout games on the PS Vita.
Sony’s handheld could obviously do with as many big name titles as it can get, so it’s somewhat confusing from our point of view on why the game continues to be shrouded in mystery like this.
Are you a big Bioshock fan? Give us your thoughts on the silence regarding the game and whether you are still interested in picking up a Vita version or not.
