PS Vita best graphics may come from Killzone Mercenary

While the likes of Soul Sacrifice and Final Fantasy X HD are two shining lights for the PS Vita that are hopefully on the way soon this year, we have heard next to no details on the promising Killzone Mercenary game that is on the way from Guerilla, until now that is. The first details on the upcoming Vita exclusive have been published in a magazine and it looks like it is going to be very similar to the impressive Killzone 3 title, which was a PS3 game.

Killzone Mercenary is due out at some point this year, but so far hasn’t been given a full release date yet. The game is being developed by Guerilla Cambridge, a sister company of Guerilla Games and are now part of Sony Computer Entertainment. Guerilla Games may not be developing the game directly, but at least we won’t see some totally unknown company handling the game, which usually happens a lot these days.

The pleasing news is that Killzone Mercenary has been compared to a ‘portable Killzone 3’, which you’ll know is a pretty big deal since the game is considered one of the graphical highlights on the PS3. Further information from the magazine adds that the frame rate is already very solid, and that the game is looking better than Uncharted Golden Abyss.

Anyone who has played Uncharted on the Vita will probably agree that it is one of the best looking games on the handheld from a graphics point of view, if not the best. Killzone is known for being impressive in the graphics department and based on that statement above, it looks like fans are going to be in for a treat.

Square-Enix may have something to say about that title when Final Fantasy X HD is released, or even Phantasy Star Online 2 for that matter. Both those games look light years away from a release at the moment, but we have been promised more info on Killzone Mercenary from Sony later on this week.

A new gameplay trailer would be perfect, especially to promote just what the PS Vita is capable of. We’re still a bit disappointed with the whole Black Ops Declassified affair, so we’re definitely interested to see how the next big Vita shooter will fair.

Are you looking out for Killzone Mercenary this year? How many of you still play your PS Vita regularly?
