PS Vita 3.30 update live, Themes before PS4

Earlier on we revealed the list of the PS Plus October games on PS4 that will be coming next month. Now though, it is time for PS Vita owners to get some good news as we’re pleased to confirm that the PS Vita 3.30 update has just gone live and is available to download.

Even better news, is that the update has brought Themes to Sony’s handheld. It’s interesting as this was the highly requested feature that Sony also promised on PS4, but PS Vita users have managed to get the feature first before console.

If you have a PS Vita, you can install this new update and can now choose from Themes such as Crystal, Four Seasons, and Stitching from the PlayStation Store. Unfortunately though they are not free to download as you’ll have to pay for them, although it shouldn’t be a surprise given that Themes were not free on PS3 anyway.

There’s many more Themes on the way in due course, including a Theme for specific games such as Uncharted Golden Abyss and Tearaway. The update will also bring some very welcome customization additions, including the ability to personalise the PS Vita Start and Home screens, system application icons and wait for it – the system background music as well.

There’s also an interesting enhancement to Trophies, with PS Vita Trophy Rarity letting users see just how precious their collections are compared to other players – more social bragging rights basically.

It’s a great update overall and it should be rolling out in all regions as we speak. Let us know if you have it in your area and what your thoughts on the update are so far.
