PS Vita 2.10 update adds excellent new features

It looks like the rumored PS Vita folders feature really was coming soon after all. Great news for PS Vita owners now, as Sony has just released a brand new firmware update for the handheld. PS Vita 2.10 update is now live for US users, adding folders functionality, as well as some other useful features that everyone should appreciate.

To recap, it was only earlier this week that we teased the possibility of folders coming to the PS Vita, after Sony replied to a user comment in their blog suggesting that it could be coming soon. They actually meant very soon as a lot of you will now find that a new update is ready to be installed the next time you switch on your Vita.

The folder feature is pretty straight forward – simply hold down on the screen to enter edit mode. From there you’ll now be able to create and name a folder, which you can place up to 10 applications or games inside. It is a simple feature, but fantastic for those that like to keep everything organized.

Aside from the folders update, select videos will now be playable from the PS Vita browser, giving you an alternative to the YouTube application should you prefer. There’s also a new mass send option when using the Group Messaging feature and minor enhancements to the Email and Photo applications.

Overall, it’s another great update and we’re pleased to see that Sony has even offered a video demonstration, allowing you to preview the new features before you install the update. That bumps up the official system software from 2.06 straight up to 2.10 – let us know if you are loving the new features, and what you are waiting for next.
