Possible Transformer Prime Android 4.0 date outed before release?

A few days ago we gave you the news that the next tablet PC from Asus was still on schedule to launch in the US before the end of the year. This followed rumors it had been delayed due to some Wi-Fi issues were found. Now we have a possible Transformer Prime Android 4.0 date that has been outed before release of the device.

According to an article over at TechRadar the Transformer Prime will be receiving Android Ice Cream Sandwich in January following claims from alleged Asus insiders. The device is set to ship with Android Honeycomb straight out of the box, but it won’t be long for the operating system gets updated to the latest version of Android.

The device is thought to be launching in the coming days in the US, but for consumers in the UK the release date is a bit vaguer. It is believed consumers in the country will have to wait until the first quarter of 2012, so they may get the device already running Android 4.0.

The latest Android operating system from Google is the first to tie in smartphones and tablet PCs, and the search engine giant is hoping the operating system will start helping the platforms fragmentation problems it currently sees.

Only last month we had a video for you that showed the original Asus Transformer running Android Ice Cream Sandwich. It may not be powered by the desirable Tegra 3 processor like the upcoming Prime, but the device is still a worthy contender in the crowded tablet PC market.

Are you planning on purchasing the Transformer Prime?
