Porsche Panamera Diesel US release uncertainty in 2014

Even though Porsche are seen as a very impressive and successful premium sports car company, they do look for ways to try and make their vehicles more fuel efficient, while still maintaining what makes them so special, and that is raw speed and performance.

While the Porsche 918 Spyder might be considered a hybrid of sorts, this has been made to see how well the unison of the internal combustion engine works in conjunction with a trio of electric motors, and so it is not about fuel-efficiency like a standard hybrid.

However, the same cannot be said for the upcoming 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel, because this second-edition version of a diesel engine powering the Panamera is a huge leap forward in terms of technology.

The new Porsche Panamera Diesel specs are rather impressive because there is a more powerful 3.0-liter V6 engine pushing out 300 horsepower, which is 50 more than the previous version. This means the top speed has gone from 152 mph to 161 mph and a 0-62mph time of 6 seconds, 0.8 seconds faster than previously.

Porsche tell us that the handling has been improved and working through the gears is crisper because of advancements made to the transmission.

The new Porsche Panamera Diesel fuel-economy has been improved as well, because while there is more power from the engine the German automaker has re-tuned the transmission to help keep fuel consumption down. More details on the new technologies used can be found on the Porsche website.

We are a little concerned about a 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel US release because there has been no announcement, but we can tell you this newer version will be released in Germany from January 2014, and no doubt other parts of Europe. As for the 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel price, it will set you back €85,300.
