Popcorn Time with Chromecast support

Popcorn Time will now support Chromecast to enable Windows users to stream movies and TV Shows to the big screen much easier. Currently Mac OS X users can use Popcorn Time to stream to an Apple TV with ease, but the same abilities are coming to Windows thanks to Popcorn Time Alpha 4.3 with support for Chromecast.

The current beta version is 4.2 and only yesterday, the official Time 4 Popcorn Facebook page published a link to their Alpha download with Chromecast support. Whether the app and software is illegal still seems cloudy, and this latest version is a fork of the Popcorn Time open source code.

We’re also hearing that Popcorn Time for Mac and Android will receive Chromecast support in the near future. We’ll keep our readers updated on the development progress and if the team behind this software really do achieve their dream of, “never being taken down”.

Some blogs are hoping to see Cartoon HD receive support from other developers like Popcorn Time has with another fork, but this seems unlikely for Cartoon HD and an alternative isn’t coming to Apple’s iOS devices anytime soon.

There’s obviously still a lot of work needed with Mac users complaining of no sound in certain Popcorn Time movies and many broken streams, but the real question will always be is it right to stream movies for free when they cost so much to make? Some people feel those behind the movies make too much money, others feel it is wrong to use torrents in this way. Have your say in the comments.
