Popcorn Time iPhone app imminent

While we weren’t given the Popcorn Time iPhone app release date last month, it was believed that the iOS version would be with us by the end of August. This never happened, but what we can confirm is the Popcorn Time app for iPhone is imminent and we’ve received official confirmation of this within a tweet.

The topic of streaming torrents for free movies and TV shows is highly debated, although the likes of Popcorn Time has attracted quite the following and fans at popular technology blogs. The developers behind this app are continually trying to protect their users by adding in VPN security to keep viewing anonymous.

Popcorn Time iPhone app is days away – the dev team has revealed this detail within the last couple of days, although an exact release date is yet to be revealed. The application will most likely just appear for download on, but it’s unclear how you’ll install it to your iOS device considering Apple won’t allow such a questionable app on the Apple iTunes store.

We’ve heard that the iOS version will stream content directly to both Google’s Chromecast and Apple AirPlay devices. Even more confusing is the fact this app might not be released through Cydia, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

You can see a direct response to a question about the possibility of needing a jailbroken device in a tweet above, which reveals there’s still a chance you’d need to jailbreak your iPhone for the Popcorn Time iPhone app. We’ll know if this ends up being the case when the download releases in the coming days.
