Popcorn Time iOS app to release in August

The Popcorn Time iOS app will be up for download at some point in August, although an exact release date isn’t known at this time. The new Popcorn Time app from the most popular fork, Time4Popcorn, will work on both iPad and iPhone along with Apple TV AirPlay streaming.

Not only did the app developers share this information within the last week, but the story was also picked up by a few mainstream media outlets and well-known blogs like Business Insider.

It’s clear some people really believe the message behind the apps creators, which clearly states on the loading screen that their service will “never be taken down”. This statement is up for debate and the ethical reasons for downloading free movies in this way are also being discussed by millions on a daily basis.

We’ve looked at rumors around the safety of this fork before, although these claims after Cartoon HD and from FliXanity are still unconfirmed.

Those behind the Time 4 Popcorn app explain this is “only the beginning” and there’s more upcoming “surprises”. It’s also clear thousands are using this version of the Popcorn Time app on Mac, Android, and Windows with what’s no doubt the most successful free movie streaming application at this point in 2014. Cartoon HD had that title before, but has since been taken down and closed.

Popcorn time Android app

The problem with the upcoming Popcorn Time iOS app is the fact you’ll need a jailbreak to use it, so that means performing a change to iPhone and iPad that most users might not want to do.

One thing is clear – Popcorn Time is getting massive exposure from the likes of TechCrunch, Business Insider, The Next Web, and many other credible names in the technology space. These websites and many other big names are calling this movement “Hollywood’s worst nightmare”, and further support for AirPlay and Chromecast only helps the users more and makes this application a bigger nightmare for Hollywood. We’d love to know your thoughts in the comments and if you welcome an update for Apple devices.
