Plerts App for Facebook, iPhone, and iPod touch

A personal alert service has just been launched for owners of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Plerts 1.0 is an alert service that is based on accessibility, and can give real-time location with privacy for medical and personal safety.

Released by Plerts, Inc. the application is designed around a “social safety net” which is a personalized list of contacts that will each receive an alert via SMS, email, and even over Twitter and Facebook. User’s privacy is maintained with no one actually knowing what you are doing unless something unfortunate happens and you fail to check back in, only then is your real-time location revealed.

The app also has a free one-touch medical life alert service that works anywhere mobile or internet coverage is available. Plerts was originally designed for medical care to send periodic updates and vitals to care providers, just in case a user becomes unresponsive due to adverse diabetic or drug reactions.

Plerts 1.0 is free on the App Store. Plerts premium services cost $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year. iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad required with OS 3.0 or later. Click here to install to Facebook Profile.
