Microsoft Kinect may be running away with all the headlines, good or bad, but any press is good press right? Regardless of this, Sony have stated that they would have sold 250,000 Move’s by the time Kinect launches and are also set to start a £13m advertising campaign.
According to SCE UK marketing director Alan Duncan, the PlayStation Move “is just one part of PlayStation 3. It is just another great reason to own the console.” He also states that Move has already sold very well, and continues to do so.
“It is all about getting the device in people’s hands and we still need to keep doing that. It has been a real success for us, we’re pretty much through quarter of a million units and we expect to sell half a million before Christmas. And when you have half a million advocates showing it to their friends and family, you will soon learn if you have a success or not.”
In regards to their advertising campaign, the firm say they are pushing towards gamers, social players and kids and families with the tagline ‘The Game Is Just The Start.’
Sony have partnered with Turner, Disney, Nickolodeon and Channel 4 to force feed us PS3 goodness all the way thyrough the holiday season and back in to Q1, where they will be expecting another great year, especially with LittleBigPlanet 2, Motorstorm: Apocalypse and Killzone 3 all hitting stores.
