You can now play Pac-Man online directly in your web browser thanks to the Internet Archive launching a collection of over 900 classic arcade games. The web-based library will be remembered by those of our readers that played many coin-operated video games in their childhood, and the list of titles will bring back great memories for some.
These titles were originally launched between the 1970s and 1990s, although considering the popularity of indie games on both PS4 and Xbox One, we feel this Internet Archive collection will be taken advantage of regularly. They are part of the JSMESS software package and benefit from its emulation.
You will find the full collection on this page at archive.org, which the official page describes as best played in Firefox thanks to this browser being “the fastest environment”.
The arcade collection includes black and white video games from the “bronze-age” with simpler sound, to the bigger arcade games with digitized music, images, and voices. The Internet Archive asks users for feedback if they run into any problems while playing, especially with concern to control and sound.
