Pioneer AppRadio announced, use iPhone apps in the car

Our smartphones are becoming more integrated with our cars these days with many different applications available. Now today we can tell you about the new Pioneer AppRadio which has been announced, and lets owners use iPhone apps in the car.

The new device is an integrated receiver for the car which can be connected to your iPhone of iPod Touch. It has a 6.1-inch multitouch capacitive display with 800 x 400 resolutions. With the display owners will be able to easily use media stored on the mobile device and applications as well, according to Michael Grothaus of TUAW.

The unit also comes with Bluetooth, GPS, AM/FM radio, and a video input which can be hooked up to a rear view camera. Users will be able to utilize the iOS Google Maps application. Pioneer is allowing developers to design applications to work hand in hand with the unit, but no apps are stored on the unit itself as everything is done via the mobile device.

Currently there are four app developers working with Pioneer which include Pandora Internet Radio and Motion-X GPS Drive. Some of the features are not available via the touchscreen for safety reasons. No exact price has been announced yet but according to Pioneer it will be “below $500”. It is expected to go on sale on June 22.
