Phorus wireless speaker review, it’s no Sonos

The title here speaks for itself, and we are aware that those who see this may find it hard to manufacture the enthusiasm required to continue reading, but we are intrigued why this is “no Sonos“. We are also interested in how well Sonos is perceived and whether this product even comes close in a review.

At the bottom of this article we have embedded a video of the Phorus wireless speaker as we look for reasons why this isn’t thought of as highly as the Sonos, while The Next Web write a Phorus Play-Fi Speaker review that is worth relaying.

The high-fidelity wireless audio of the PS1 combines with iOS and Android devices although it is said to have limited options. This review comes from someone who has been testing out a pair of PS1s in various parts of their house, giving a positive outcome for what they regard as a product that delivers excellent audio quality.

On the other hand, the easy to use speakers lack the support needed for many top streaming music services, and the occasional problems experienced with wireless and Bluetooth speaker connectivity makes the reviewer reluctant to make a recommendation.

While Phorus advertises AirPlay support this integration is still missing in action, but on the plus side once this has been added they feel this speaker will be more attractive to Mac and iOS users, amounting in better connectivity.

The user found that he was using the rubber cradle which holds a tablet or smartphone as a charging station frequently, although the user admits the PS1 does fill the room well with sound with a 360 degree output. In addition, the Phorus is said to offer a decent combination of convenience and quality at an affordable price, although it still hasn’t got what it takes to compete with Sonos and Bose.

Overall, the PS1 produces excellent sound and it conveniently connects to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but with missing key music services this product doesn’t feel like the finished article, regardless of the reasonable price of $199. The video below seems to reiterate this to a certain extent, so those wanting a visual impression might want to check this out.
