Pebble Watch improved with 1.9.1 firmware update

At the start of 2013 the Pebble Watch was finally released following a successful showing on the Kickstarter website. Since its release there had been a couple of firmware updates, but the company learned of several issues, and so felt the need to offer an improved version, and so here we have 1.9.1 firmware update.

We can’t help feel how quick the company was bringing this latest software out for public release, so just shows they are in touch with their customers — wish Apple were like this considering there are still several problems with their iOS 6 operating system.

The problem with the previous Pebble software was to do with the microcontroller, which would often lead to the buttons becoming unresponsive when you try to wake the watch from sleep. However, it’s not all-good news though, because if your watch has suffered from this issue then you will need to get a replacement device.

While this update is no consolation to those who have fallen victim to this bug, at least there shouldn’t be any new cases of the Pebble unable to wake from sleep.

This issue seems to have brought up an ongoing debate as to whether we actually need a smartwatch in the first place. Some people would tell you that there is no need to have one of these devices because your smartphone already does all what the watch can do and more. While those in favor will say it’s far easier to look at your watch for certain functions rather than get your smartphone out, especially if you are in an unsavory neighborhood.

Rumors of an iWatch won’t go away either, and even though Apple has yet to confirm this, knowing Samsung is already working on their version of a smartwatch is surely proof there is a growing market for such devices?
