Pebble Time Steel price counters plastic-strap Apple Watch

With Apple all set to take the wearables market by storm when it announces details on its range of Watch devices, other companies that already have a range of smartwatches have released or about to release new models. A fine example if this is the Pebble Time Steel, which comes at an impressive price that is $50 less than the plastic strap version of the Apple Watch.

The Pebble Time Steel is to cost $250 for those that get the device early on Kickstarter, although its full price will be $299, which is $70 more expensive than its plastic version.

Pebble Time Steel price

As for the Pebble Time Steel features, these consist of a large battery offering up to 10 days of life between chargers. To help give it a more premium feel is its CNC-finished 316L stainless steel casing, stainless steel strap and leather strap. It’s clear to see that Pebble is worried of the threat from Apple, which has to be a reason why the company is to offer the Time Steel version.

Some people have already said the Pebble Steel design is poor and was something back from the 80s, although we find it hard to believe that seeing as though people have yet to even get their hands-on one.

You have to admire Pebble for releasing this new model, although we do find it hard to see them selling as well seeing as though it is just $70 less than the cheapest Apple Watch made from aluminum, but with plastic strap.
