Patience shown in Apple iPad 3 rumors

There has been a lot of reports lately about manufacturers of tablet PCs either discontinuing their products or thinking of cutting the pricing for the devices. All the while Apple has continued to dominate the crowded market with its iPad. There was talk we would see a new version of Apple’s take on the tablet PC towards the end of this year. But despite all this Apple patience is shown in Apple iPad 3 rumors.

The company has allegedly got prototypes of the next iPad in its supply chain, but according to AppleInsider Apple won’t be launching any new iPad until next year as currently there is no true competitor to take on the iPad 2.

JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz is claiming that after talking with industry sources the iPad 3 won’t make an appearance until 2012. He said that “Apple should be in no rush”, as the other devices from different companies have not so far been able to compete.

Since the iPad 2 was first released in March there have been constant rumors the company was going to release a more expensive replacement for the device. But some said that the new model would sit alongside the iPad 2 and offer a higher resolution display.

Back in July there was even the alleged part leaked from the iPad 3 that suggested an all new design for the tablet PC. Moskowitz’s feels that the likes of RIM and Motorola have failed with their devices, and thinks the next to fail will be Sony with its recently released tablet PCs.

He said that the Sony tablet is not as refined as the iPad, and doesn’t like the bezel back of the device because it’s “not user-friendly”. The Android operating system was also put down by the analyst as he feels it hasn’t made the crossover well from smartphones.

The iPad 2 was found to have gained more market share from Android devices in the second quarter of this year. Apple now has a massive 68.3% of the market compared to the 26.8% that Android has. The upcoming Amazon tablet is thought to maybe offer the first real competition to the iPad, and is expected to be available in the coming weeks.

Do you think there will ever be a worthy contender to the iPads crown?
