Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5: Specs and Quick Review

After Panasonic officially announced their new camera lineup earlier today, the successor to the photographers favorite the Lumix DMC-LX3, was among the new models to be announced. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 looks set to be on a lot of people’s wish list.

Dan Sung over at has done an early review of Panasonic’s new camera which is the company’s top of the range model. The camera is easy to use and quite compact in size. This new model has the same F/2.0, 24mm Summicron lens found on the LX3, but with an improved zoom of 3.8 x 90mm. Pictures with color depth and even exposure were produced by the LX5.

The flash is concealed in the camera body and works on the request of the user instead of when the unit seems it is necessary. A hot shoe is available for extra light but as the camera ISO goes up to 3200, and with pixel mixing takes that up to a total of ISO 1200 a flash won’t be needed too often.

The conclusion of the new Lumix DMC-LX5 was while it might not impress people who use a DLSR, and more knowledgeable user’s it is still a good camera that can take great pictures. And with the 720p video recording option makes the LX5 even more appealing.
