Palm affected by Verizon iPhone

When Palm launched the Pre last year, they had hoped that this would be enough to help improve poor results for the company, but a year down the line and things look worse than ever — something to do with the rumored Verizon iPhone.

The problem that Palm had was not with its poor range of smartphones, but the lack of carrier support. The Pre was only available on Sprint at launch, this seriously effected sales. The Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus are now available on all the major networks in the U.S. but we wonder if it is too little too late?

If the Palm Pre were on either the Verizon or AT&T network from launch, then they would not be facing these troubles now. To give you an idea of just how bad things are, we recently reported that many experts believe that Palm shares will be worthless in 12 months time.

We do wonder if Palm will be able to turn things around, with the constant threat of a Verizon iPhone, as well as a 4G version as well as new Android smartphones — it seems that Palm just does not have an answer.
