OS X 10.9 Mavericks price is free

We know Apple has been pushing down prices for their operating system that crush anything the competition offers, but today at their special keynote event they made an announcement that changed everything. Apple’s OS X Mavericks price is free, yes you heard that right, you can download the software at a zero cost to you.

Apple explained that OS X Mavericks will be available to download from today for free and support for MacBook Pro’s and Air from 2007 onwards.

When we saw the Gold Master arrive for download around 2 weeks ago, the features impressed us but to think all of that would be offered for free would be hard to believe just 14 days ago. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft react to this news and what they do with their upcoming software releases.

You will find more than 200 new features in OS X 10.9 Mavericks and you will also receive Maps, iBooks, better multi-display support, a new Tags system in Finder, and a new version of Safari. Hardware running OS X Mavericks will gain a lot more power efficiency and better battery life, so it is really hard to believe it will all be offered for free.

Any Mac that is able to run OS X Mountain Lion will also be able to run Mavericks.
