Social media is changing the way we lead our lives and the way we interact with the rest of the world. Millions of users across the world regularly log on to the social networks that are available. Facebook is beginning to offer more live events on its site, and we reported recently it was going to show a live FA Cup match. Today we have an article looking at the Oprah live Facebook interview recapped.
Oprah Winfrey certainly got lots of likes on Facebook as fans tuned in to watch the big TV star have an online chat with the social networking site. Winfrey gave a one hour chat to Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s Chief Operating Officer, at the company’s Palo Alto headquarters in California according to the Associated Press.
She gave the interview in front of an audience of Facebook employees that had a great time taking photos and cheering after the interview ended. She talked about a variety of issues that included the remodeling work that has gone on at the Harpo Studios in Chicago by Rosie O’Donnell. O’Donnell is set to host The Rosie Show on Winfrey’s OWN TV network next month.
Winfrey said “One of the first things she wanted was the walls taken down, everybody’s out in the open and her offices are dogs and kids and music is playing and there’s a candy bar and a cookie bar”. Winfrey talked about life since she ended The Oprah Winfrey Show back in May, and said she was never actually retiring.
She is spending her time working on her OWN TV network, where she is the chairman, CEO and chief creative officer. Winfrey has said it is harder than she originally imagined but never felt any fear launching the network, but did add “the fear is I hope I’m right”.
Viewers of the interview posted comments praising the TV star with one even posted her phone number asking for a call. Oprah took part in a quick fire round of questions where she shared she likes thin crust pizza over deep pan, Chai tea to coffee, and uses the iPad instead of the Kindle or actual books.
Winfrey was given a tour of the Facebook offices before her interview and employees from OWN, Harpo, and O magazine accompanied her as she thought they could learn from the site. This is not the first time the social networking site has brought in big names for an online chat as the likes of Bill Gates and even President Obama have taken part before.
