Onkyo TX-NR1009: Worlds first receiver to feature DTS Neo: X

We have reported on a number of new Onkyo receivers this year as the company looks to build on its already successful range. Today we have news of the Onkyo TX-NR1009, which is the world’s first receiver to feature DTS Neo: X.

DTS Neo: X is a new surround sound system which has been designed to improve standard 5.1 audio with extra front-height, front-wide and surround-back channels according to an article on What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision. The new model also continues the trend of having Spotify support, and is THX Select 2 Plus certified.

It also has 9.2 channels of amplification with 32-bit processing. Connection wise the unit won’t disappoint, it has eight HDMI inputs with two HDMI outputs for connecting up dual displays. Dolby Pro-Logic IIz and Audyssey DSX are also supported.

The HDMI connections all support 3D and have an audio return channel. Hook the unit up to the internet to gain access to Spotify,, and Napster as well as internet radio. Being compatible with the Windows 7 platform allows use of the Play To media streaming feature. The receiver is expected to hit dealers in June for around $1399/£1300.
