Olympus OMD EM-1 camera stills and recording

We featured part 1 looking at Olympus OMD EM-1 hardware a couple of days ago, and we are happy to see the second part of the review is now up and online. In this second video we get to see what Olympus’s big boy camera is made of by showing us a few stills and video footage.

In the first video we got to see what the Olympus OMD EM-1 was made of in terms of its hardware, and we have to say we were very impressed, even if some of the technology is already in use in some of their other models.

As with all cameras it is all well and good having impressive hardware, but the more important factor is what happens when you come to use it? This is why Blunty wanted to make this second video because it gives consumers a better idea of what to expect, and so they will not be going into their purchase blind.

The video begins by taking a closer look at the Olympus OMD EM-1 and seeing just how sensitive it is, especially in low-light conditions because Olympus has not had a good track record in this department. However, they have made some progress in this area. The review goes through the ISO range to see when the noise reduction begins to falter.

The detail of some of the test shots is well retained while the color renders is well maintained and overall looks very natural. While we do love these test shots and video footage, we cannot help notice those flickering light.

If you like your camera to be a great video shooter, then the Olympus OMD EM-1 is a great choice and it does not matter if you are taking stills or videos, the camera still maintains a punchy color and great detail. Blunty says that this is a “thrilling, awesome camera” and we have to take what he says as gospel because he certainly knows his stuff.
