Italian firm Olivetti — originally known for manufacturing typewriters — has recently decided to enter the tablet PC market by unveiling its new 10-inch, Android 2.2 run OliPad, which they say has been designed with both consumer and business customers in mind.
According to a recent article by Christopher Trout over at engadget.com, the upcoming device — which will be available to purchase for €399 as from this coming Monday — is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and features a 10-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600.
The OliPad also comes with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and USB, SD Card and HDMI ports. The OliPad can be used with a wide variety of accessories, including a touch mouse, a capacitive pen, a keyboard and even a docking station.
OliPad users will have access to a wide range of applications that are either pre-installed onto the device or downloadable via a dedicated Olivetti App Store. The OliPad will also provide access to things such as email management, a calendar, contacts and a web browser.
As for the business end of the market, the OliPad offers a high level of customization and access to an impressive variety of apps via the Application Warehouse. You can read more about the device via the Olivetti.com website.
