Official Twitter App for Android confirmed

Following on from the news that the iPhone will get ‘Tweetie’ as their official Twitter for iPhone App, we can confirm that Android handset owners will also be getting the ‘official’ treatment soon.

As reported from Tech Crunch, it hasn’t been announced yet, whether an existing app will be converted into the official App, or if Twitter will partner with a company or just develop the App themselves.

It is likely that Twitter will just use an existing such, just like they did with Tweetie – one of the most popular Twitter Apps for the iPhone.

We don’t know when the App will be going live, but we expect it to very soon. What are your thoughts on this, Android users?

What App are you currently using for your Twitter duties?

If they choose a pre-existing one, I hope it’s Touiteur. It has a lot of the same features Tweetie had, and its UI is very organized. As I’ve tried many of The Android apps, this is the one that works the best.
