Official HTC Thunderbolt Release Date, Finally

Last week we asked you whether you would wait much longer for the Verizon Wireless-bound HTC Thunderbolt release date, well we can know confirm the smartphone’s official release date thanks to a press release which has been published on Verizon’s website.

The officially confirmed release date is March 17 (in stores and online), it will cost $249.99 as part of a new two-year deal with Verizon, we can also confirm that it will come pre-loaded with 4G LTE optimized apps such as Bitbop, Rock Band, Let’s Golf and Tunewiki.

Many expect the HTC Thunderbolt to be extremely popular as it is Verizon Wireless’ first-ever 4G LTE compliant smartphone, its Hotspot functionality allows you to share this 4G connectivity with up to 8 WiFi devices. Verizon’s 4G LTE network allows for download speeds of up 12 Mbps and uploads speeds of up to 5Mbps, this should mean that even when sharing your connection via the hotspot functionality your connection speed should be good.

According to the press release the HTC Thunderbolt requires a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan (starting at $39.99 per month) and a 4G LTE data package (starting at $29.99 per month), up until May 15 there will be no additional charge for using the hotspot functionality, however after this date you will have to pay $20 for 2 GB of Mobile Hotspot data (per month).

So there you have it folks you can pick up your HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon stores and online in two days time, will you buy the HTC Thunderbolt?
