Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD complete, release announcement imminent

Fans of the Oddworld series of games may by now be aware that a HD version of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is expected to hit the PlayStation 3 consoles. The developer behind the remake Just Add Water has just announced that the development is complete and the game will get a release date announcement soon.

The original Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath was developed by Oddworld Inhabitants and first became available back in 2005 for the Xbox console. The game follows the story of bounty hunter Stranger as he travels the lands searching for and collecting bounties so he can save money for a life-saving operation. Of course a remake is not a remake worth having without improvements, so Just Add Water has provided a list of changes that have been made to the new HD version of the game.

Some of the changes included are an integrated trophies system with unlockables and improved difficulty settings so the game now has hard, medium and easy modes. Also the sound has been enhanced to now include 5.1 Dolby Digital support and new voices. The environments have also been improved not only with HD enhancements but some have been redesigned to match those in the opening CG Cinematic and character improvements.

The character improvements include a visual update of all 84 of them as well as with the ‘Live Ammo’ and also improved character voices. Finally, there have also been changes made to the display of the game so it now appears clearly in 720p HD and widescreen. You can check out the full list of changes and improvements over at Eurogamer.

What do you think of the changes made? Are you looking forward to the release of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath?
