Oculus Rift VR technology not for Avatar sequels

The future of Oculus Rift VR technology is an exciting one, even though some of you feel as though Facebook could prove a negative factor in its success. However, when the likes of James Cameron offers his five cents about the use of Oculus Rift in the movie industry, then there is hope to feel very excited.

However, before you get ahead of yourself, Cameron did say the technology is still in its infancy, which means any thoughts of Avatar sequels making use Oculus Rift virtual reality technology need to be put aside immediately.

Avatar took 3D filming to a whole new level, and so would make perfect sense to see a future movie in the saga made with VR technology, but Cameron said VR would not take over the movie industry, and as such would only be right for certain projects.

The director said that the use of Oculus Rift or other such virtual reality technology would come into its own with a project that requires a real-time narrative experience, whatever that may be is anyone’s guess.

We might learn what he means very soon because a recent session on Reddit has said that James Cameron will get his hands on Oculus Rift very soon. However, we can’t help feel the future of Oculus Rift is more towards gaming rather than movies, as it is easier to imagine people with headsets on playing games, rather than people with them on while watching a movie.
