It has recently been revealed that at some point this year a Nokia handset will be launched which will utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor, not only this but it will run the Symbian mobile OS.
Nokia and Qualcomm used to have patent-related issues with each-other, however they finally resolved these in July 2008, therefore there has been more than enough time for both companies to settle their differences and begin working together.
This handset could be very appealing for two reasons, obviously one major reason is because of the high-performing Snapdragon processor, the second is that the Symbian platform has a new lease of life as it is now open-source.
Many Nokia N97 customers were frustrated with the poor performance which this handset delivered, however this handset ran Symbian OS 9.4 and featured a 434 MHz ARM11 processor. Imagine how the Nokia N97 could run if it featured a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor along with a new and improved Symbian OS.
Do you like sound of a Nokia handset running Symbian and being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor?
