We have been sent a press release informing us that the Nokia N8 is now shipping, but only to those who had already pre-ordered. There are those who believe that this will be a great alternative to the Apple iPhone, but the handset has a few failings, which could go against it.
Having said that, the Nokia N8 is certainly up to the challenge — we just hope that the new Symbian software is as well. Once the initial pre-orders have shipped, then Nokia will make the handset more widely available — depending how sales go of course.
The N8 is the first of a new series of Nokia handsets to use the new Symbian OS, and like a number of new smartphones on the market offers full support of multitasking. However, one feature that will help the phone stand out is the 12-megapixel camera — something that the iPhone does not have an answer for.
As with all Nokia smartphones you have access to the Ovi Store, so not only do you get to play with some awesome games, but you also get free maps as well. For more details visit Nokia.
