Last Friday saw Nokia launch their latest handset, the Lumia 1020 for the US market, but the news is not so great for the Indian market, as they still have a bit of a wait before they can get their hands on this smartphone. However, some may say that it will be worth the wait when you look at what you will be getting.
Nokia is being very clever here, and is marketing the Lumia 1020 more as a camera with a smartphone bolted on, but don’t expect anything like the Samsung Galaxy Zoom, as there is no optical zoom on Nokia’s effort. However, as you would imagine, this handset has its sights set on the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone, with the latter now being 10 months old — so it is the older statesman.
While we have no idea how much the Nokia Lumia 1020 price in India will be, the US version converts to about Rs 42,000, which is very close to the Rs 45,000 for the iPhone 5 price in India. Okay, so we know that it will have a tough job competing with Apple’s current iPhone, but not so when it comes to its camera capabilities.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 full specs are a 4.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB storage and a further 7GB Cloud storage, a massive 41-megapixel camera, 4G LTE connectivity and more, all of which can be found here.
Compare this to the iPhone 5 full specs, which as we very well know a 4-inch display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera, which is certainly dwarfed by the sensor used in the Nokia Lumia 1020. We could go on about the specifications of the iPhone 5, but we all know them by now.
It’s clear that as specs go the 1020 has the iPhone 5 beat, but we know it is always more than hardware alone so how will the Nokia Lumia 1020 compare to the iPhone 5 once it lands in India, and how much would you be willing to pay?
