Nokia EOS with 41MP camera to dominate Q4 2013?

Nokia may be preparing to unleash their Nokia Lumia 928 and Lumia 925 smartphones onto the market, but we’re hearing rumors that another device may be in the pipeline. This device could be set for considerable spotlight time, as it’s thought to be packing one of Nokia’s 41 megapixel camera sensors.

This should be ringing bells for those who picked up a Nokia 808 PureView smartphone last year, as the device was the first to feature Nokia’s groundbreaking new PureView Pro technology and also shipped with a 41 megapixel camera. The only problem for most consumers though was that it shipped with Symbian OS, not Android or Windows Phone.

With that in mind, say hello to the Nokia EOS, which is apparently due to be released in 2013 with a 41 megapixel camera, a 4.5-inch 720p display and will ship with Windows Phone 8 as its operating system. On top of that, information over at WMPoweruser suggests that the Nokia NOS could also come with a new app called Nokia Pro Camera, which will enhance the 41 megapixel camera functionality, compared to what we saw with the 808 Pureview.

The app mentioned above could also come with the ability to automatically open the camera lens when the app is launched – so smartphone camera enthusiasts should definitely keep an eye on this one. Nokia are already known as the company to turn to for superior camera quality, so the addition of Windows Phone OS compared to Symbian should definitely raise a few eyebrows as we progress through the year.

Unlike the metallic body that the Lumia 925 may ship with though, we’re also hearing that the EOS may incorporate a polycarbonate body instead. Let us know if you think the Nokia EOS could make a big enough impact in Q4 2013, against a possible iPhone 6 release and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. We’ll give you more details on the EOS as we get it.
