If you are planning to buy a Nintendo Switch and believe that it has the hardware power to run any game that the PS4 Pro and Xbox One S can with ease, some news has arrived this week which may affect future purchase decisions.
Bungie has just effectively ended all hope on a Nintendo Switch Destiny 2 release, by saying that there are currently no plans to bring Destiny 2 to the switch.
Project lead Mark Noseworthy cited the fact that Destiny 2 is an online only game and even though he loves the Nintendo Switch, it is ‘unrealistic’ to think about the Switch getting a version after the PS4, Xbox One and PC launches.
While we are not saying that the Nintendo Switch hardware isn’t good enough to run the game, some may wonder why it wouldn’t be up for consideration in the future rather than just announce straight away that there are no plans for a Switch release.
To remind you, the Nintendo Switch is powered by a 4x ARM Cortex A57 CPU with a clock speed of 1020MHz and a GPU based on the 256 Nvidia CUDA system.
What may be eye-raising though is the fact that Destiny 2 being online only, automatically means that it isn’t a fit for the Switch.
What about Splatoon 2 which is going to be largely based on online play as well? Perhaps we shouldn’t make a direct comparison with Splatoon 2 and Destiny 2 in terms of technical requirements, but what happens if this becomes a regular thing with other developers skipping the Switch and sticking with PlayStation and Xbox due to similar reasons?
