The Nikon P6000 is now two years old, so it was only a matter of time before the camera maker decided to release a new model. That time is now, and the new model is the D7000. As always Nikon will be competing with Canon – although not certain what model they will be competing with.
The follow-up compact camera is said to come with a larger 1/1.7-inch sensor, but this has come at a cost — a lower 10-megapixel resolution. For those of you who know your cameras, you will know that this is not the same as the Canon G11.
According to Nikon Rumors the P7000 will come with a 28 – 200mm zoom lens with a f/2.8 – 5.6 range, the camera website notes that this is more versatile than the G11.
We still await conformation as to when Nikon will announce pricing and a release date, so for now we will just keep reading more spec details as they come out.
