The fallout over the now-infamous 2014 Takata airbag recall is continuing this week, as the NHTSA has decided to push the Japanese airbag maker Takata to release details and find replacement parts quickly as consumers demand 2014 airbag recall fixes as soon as possible.
If Takata were previously guilty of turning a blind eye to potential airbag problems, we can be sure that they are going to be firmly focused moving forward after this recall.
Letters have now been sent to Takata from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, asking for a response on how nearly 8 million U.S. vehicles have managed to be caught up in the year’s biggest recall.
While we usually see a positive ending to recalls with minimal injuries, Takata’s airbag problems have reportedly been met with four deaths so far – also leading to the Obama Administration stepping in to demand answers too as we told you about in a separate report here.
Flying shards flying at drivers and passengers is obviously no joke though, so it’s good to see both the Obama Administration and the NHTSA coming down hard to make sure these kind of problems never happen again.
