For months we have been thinking that the Nexus 7 was going to be replaced with the Nexus 8, but this may not be the case if we are to go by fresh developments. A recent leak would suggest that the next tablet from HTC will be an 8.9-inch device and for that reason could possibly be called the Nexus 9 instead.
Nexus 9 part of new HTC Android tablet lineup — According to the rumor HTC has three new tablets coming later this year, and while we do not know their official names, they are currently designated T1, which could be the T1 (Nexus 9,) the T7, which will be the successor to the Nexus 7 and finally the T12, which will be a 12-inch variant of these tablets.
If this is the case, then there will be no Nexus 8 released, which is good in the respect that the 7-inch will not be replaced with an 8-inch version, although this means there will be no Nexus device with the same screen size to compete with the iPad mini in 2014.
Google must be up to something because it will be a year tomorrow since they last launched a Nexus tablet, and so we have to wonder what they are playing at? We cannot even say they are concentrating on the smartphone side of things, as they have only released the Nexus 5 in that time.
Going back to the story, which was first leaked by @evleaks, the proposed specs for the HTC Nexus 9 is expected to come with an 8.9-inch display with 281ppi, 2GB of RAM, a choice of 16GB and 32GB storage options, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Let’s say for one moment this is the real deal, do you believe that a Nexus 7, 9 and 12 are highly likely to happen in 2014, or would you rather other sizes, such as 8-inch and 10-inch versions?
