Nexus 7 vs. Nook HD review decided by books

This is one comparison that seems totally one-sided, and looking at the Nexus 7 vs. Nook HD reveals two solid devices but the specs point squarely at the Google Nexus 7 by Asus, although if you love reading books and want a simplified UI it might be a different story. The Nook HD features an amazing 243 PPI display, which includes just slightly less pixels per inch when compared to the more expensive Retina iPad.

Nook HD decided by books — first up let’s get the obvious out the way, and that’s the main reason anyone would choose the Barnes & Noble Nook HD over the Nexus 7, which is magazines and books. If reading is your thing and you want a tablet for more than just reading, but also excels for books, then it has to be the Nook HD you favor here. You’ll find over 35,000 chapter books and a strong point for parents is the kids books that total more than 4,000 interactive picture books, which is strengthened further by a feature that allows you to record while reading to children.

If you fancy something more visual then take a look at the videos below this article, which include a couple of videos focused on giving the Nexus 7 and Nook HD a review. The first video runs for 21 minutes and explains in detail why the Nook HD is so good for eBooks, newspapers, magazines, and also looks at other features that they love and hate. If you’re new to the Nexus 7 then a review from a couple of months ago explains clearly the good and bad points, although for something more recent comparing the Nexus 7 vs. Nook HD then see the third video review below, which delivers a close up with these tablets and the iPad mini as well.

If you want to read a detailed account of the Nexus 7 specs verses the Nook HD, Kindle Fire HD, and iPad mini then you can see the list of specs in the image below. This comes to us thanks to a review we found on HUFF POST here, although we strongly recommend you see the visual reviews below for a close up with each tablet.

If you had to choose, would it be Nexus 7 or Nook HD? We also touch on the difference between iPad 4 / mini and the Nook HD in this article, and the iPad Mini vs. Nexus 7 in a visual review here, although we’d love to hear your thoughts on these tablets in the comments below.

UPDATE: This specs list from HUFF POST is slightly out of date, the changes include Nexus 7 having no more 8GB (now 16GB and 32GB), and also the Nook HD has 1024MB of RAM.
