Nexus 7 price subsidized with UK news payment

While there may be a huge number of uses for tablet devices many consumers and business users enjoy their subscriptions to newspapers, just so they can keep on top of what’s going on in the world. Many newspapers know this and look for ways to increase their subscribers, so we are not shocked to learn that the Nexus 7 price has been subsidized in the UK thanks to The Times.

The price of the 32GB Nexus 7 should be £199, but you can now get the tablet for just £50, that’s a saving of £149. In order to get your Nexus 7 in the UK for £50 you will need to subscribe to The Times for 18 months, which will not only give you access to their full site but also their mobile apps as well. The total amount payable in that 18-month period will amount to just under £300, but that’s if you pay in advance.

This move by The Times has not shocked us because it has happened in the past, and will no doubt happen again, the most recent being a discounted Nook for subscribing to The New York Times. We have heard from many of our readers in the past who cannot understand why people would want to pay to read the news, especially when there are so many other ways to get this information for free.

There will be some skeptics out there who say that certain UK newspapers are doing all they can to gain more readers because of the current issues going on in the UK, since many of them have been involved in recent scandals. Having said that, The Times is certainly a great source for news and tells you how it is. We still find it a hard pill to swallow, why not just purchase the Nexus 7 from Google and just read the news for free and save yourself £100. There’s also the fact that you will be stuck with the Nexus 7 for 18 months, and in that time the second-generation model should be out by then.
