Ever since the Nexus 7 was discontinued there have been hopes that a new model would be released, but it does seem as though this is very unlikely to happen. There had been rumors of a new model being released this year, but it’s not looking too good is it? If that was not bad enough, the likelihood of a 2016 Nexus 9 update is not looking overly positive either.
It was a few months ago that the Nexus 9 was seen at a reduced cost of around 40 percent, and it was then that we started to assume that HTC was working on an update to their tablet. Well, it was not long after that Google discontinued the tablet leaving people to assume that a new version was on its way.
Here we are now in May and HTC have confirmed that the device has finally been discontinued, and so the only way that you may be able to get your hands on one of these tablets is from some retailers that still have some old stock left.
The likelihood of a new Nexus tablet lineup is not looking too good because sales have not been that great, hence why they are no longer on sale. Like we said above, there is hope that things will change, although it’s looking less likely.
We could have to wait another year until 2017 because Nexus tablets are not updated as often as their smartphone siblings. We suspect that Google will introduce new Nexus handsets this year to succeed the current models, although we very much doubt it will be until September, which would make it a year after the current models were released.
