Nexus 6 opposing the Galaxy Note 4 and S5

Nexus is still very much alive and we know that Google has a few new tablets waiting in the wings, with HTC suspected to be taking over from both ASUS and Samsung. As for the smartphone side of things, it seems that there could be a few changes afoot, but more so in size than anything else.

The Nexus 6 display size has provided some great discussions over the past few months, although so has its existence. Depending who you ask, some people will tell you that the Nexus 6 is not going to happen, and we can understand why they would say such a thing, as it means a new market to tackle.

If we are to go on the latest rumor from Android Police, then the Nexus 6 could be made by Motorola and come with a 5.9-inch display. This would mean the new smartphone would pretty much be a phablet and so would not only be taking on the Samsung Galaxy S5, but the Note 4 as well.

Having said that, keeping the Nexus 6 below 6-inches could keep it just below the Note 4 radar, although it will be a very tight call, but could be a huge positive for those of you looking for something in-between the S4 and Note 4.

Where does this leave the Nexus 5? It would seem silly for Google to do away with its 5-inch Nexus handset, as this is a very polar size. If there was no 5-inch model, then this would limit choice and play right into the hands of rival devices, such as the S5, HTC One M8 and the LG G3, as some consumers have been holding off their purchase of a new smartphone just to see what Google has to offer come November.

Whatever happens though, it is more than likely that the next Nexus handset will be the first device to support Android L.
