Even though the next week is all about the Galaxy Note 3 and then iPhone 5S, the Nexus 5 still craves attention. We say this because there seems to be details coming out at a vast rate, although they are all in contradiction of each other. You might wonder why we would be talking about such a thing when it is possibly still a good couple of months away, but when you consider the chatter in regard to the Galaxy S5, it doesn’t seem too soon at all.
We don’t even know for certain the Nexus 5 release date, or even if the device will be released at all, as there was a rumor that Motorola was working on the Nexus 4 version 2. There is a possibility that we could see both, but most rumors suggest it to be a Nexus 5 later this year.
With this in mind we found an interesting article on Phones Reviews who believes there is now Nexus 5 launch strength because of stock shortages with the 8GB Nexus 4. This could just be a coincidence considering the fact that Google had recently reduced them in price.
Having a $100 discount on the Nexus 4 was obvious there would start to be stock shortages, but it will be interesting to see if Google and LG replenish the stock, or if they are preparing for something new, although if we go on the release of the Nexus 4 last year then it could be too soon.
If this is the case then we expect more Nexus 4 stock to come in, so these next few days and weeks will be crucial, because if there is no new stock then the Nexus 5 or new Nexus 4 2013 model rumor mill will move into overdrive.
Seeing the Nexus 4 is now low in stock is further proof that budget buyers are not bothered about a newer model, and shows that the Nexus 4 is still a sought after device and can hold its own against some of the newer phones on the market.
If the next model is to be the Nexus 5, then we have already seen several concepts, with one of them showing just how larger it looks up against the current iPhone. There has already been a debate as to the size and if they think Nexus 5 specs are just as important.
We have also looked at what the Nexus 5 could be like when compared to the Moto X, and while it is all a bit of fun, the readers do seem to love looking at the proposed hardware compared to a current smartphone.
Do you think these stock shortages is a sign that a new model is coming, or do you think it is the result of the recent price drop?
