Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb gains release date listing

Since we first heard about the Nexus 4 Wireless Charging Orb back in November details have been sparse, however it has recently come to our attention that a Norwegian retailer has listed the official orb-shaped charger for pre-order on their website. This stylish looking orb charger is set to be released next month although the translation of the price stated gives us cause to believe this will be an expensive product.

In many circumstances when it comes to new gadgets the initial pricing can be rather extortionate and translating the Norwegian current into dollars means the retail price of 739 kr is relative to $114 U.S. With that in mind, Android Central don’t believe this will be the final cost once it arrives in the States, and the figure shown also represents Norwegian VAT at 25%. The same site also mentions cheaper alternatives becoming available, although we are quite taken by this stylish piece of kit.

Norwegian retailer Dustin Home highlights an estimated shipping date of February 12th, along with pricing details, which might be of interest for those of you holding out for this wireless charging orb. In other relevant news, only yesterday we spoke about the Nexus 4 wireless VU chargers from TYLT, which is said to charge at the same rate as that experienced with the USB. Available in a range of different colors the attractive looking wireless charger comes with an AC wall charger and a 12 month limited warranty for around $69.99.

Returning to the original source, have you had your eye on the orb charger since it was first revealed?

Gee, I have never seen that done before. I guess I was dreaming when I saw Palm do it with that wonderful “iPhone Killer” no programs ever developed Palm Pre. So this “new idea” was already released to the public in 2010. It also was not $100. It was OK, it worked, seems to me you had to position it properly for it to charge. There was a light so you knew it was charging. Why are you writing about the orb charger like the wheel has just been invented?
