New images have appeared of what is said to be patents for a new small Honda sports car, which could possibly be the Baby NSX or a new Civic Type R. However, one thing is certain, with more of these smaller mid-engine sports cars being announced, there is now a greater desire for the Toyota MR2 to make a comeback.
The last model was produced back in 2007, and so it’s been around 8 years since its demise. At that time demand for such a car had been falling all the time, but these smaller sports cars are making a comeback thanks to improvements in powertrain technology.
We have already seen the success with the new Mazda MX-5, and news of a Baby NSX is a sure sign that things are on the up for these cars. Ok, so we are taking a wild stab in the dark as to what model this could be in the images, thanks to Autovisie, although they are adamant it is for an upcoming Honda.
Looking at its design there is a resemblance to the NSX and S660, and so we will just have to watch this space.
With rumors rife of the Supra making a comeback, surely the MR2 has to be in with a shout as well — especially if it was to make use of a petrol engine and electric motor, much like the technology used on F1 cars?
Which would appeal to you more a Baby NSX or an all-new Toyota MR2?
