New specs for iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 to get rumored 2012 release date

We have some fresh iPhone 5 rumors to share with you now, as it has been suggested that a new model will release between July and August and will be a minor revision of the iPhone 4, complete with new hardware specifications but keeping the same design as the iPhone 4.

The information has surfaced from Macotakara, who have been informed by an anonymous source that a new model will be out in the next few months, and although it won’t have support for a SIM card, it will be equipped with world support for use on both AT&T and Verizon’s network frequencies in the US, as reported from Apple Insider.

Furthermore, specs are said to include an 8 megapixel rear camera, 3 or 4 internal antennas and an ARM Cortex-A9 processor. However, the report failed to state whether the processor would be single core or a dual-core. We’re guessing it has to be dual-core otherwise there would be a major backlash from consumers you would feel.

Perhaps even more exciting for you, is the fact that the article also mentions a possible ‘iPhone 6’ release, which is apparently happening next year around the Spring period and will include new display screens built by Sharp. Again, no mentions of OLED technology which were rumored earlier this week.

What are your thoughts on these rumors? If they are true, it means we will see a brand new iPhone after WWDC 2011 after all. However, it then puts doubt on the ‘major’ release in September that was speculated, instead suggesting that we’ll get a major new iPhone device in 2012. Do you think the details are a bit farfetched?
