While PS Vita owners patiently wait for brand new games to arrive in 2013, we do have some pleasing news as such to bring you. It has just been confirmed that a notable port is heading to Sony’s handheld, coming in the form of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two which was originally available as a PS3, Xbox 360 and later a Wii U game.
It may not be the new IP that you have been waiting for, but it is definitely a solid port of a series that you will appreciate. Epic Mickey created a buzz when it first appeared on the original Wii, so it’s nice to see that the series is still alive somewhat with a port for the PS Vita.
Disney has confirmed that Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is coming to the PS Vita, but hasn’t revealed a solid release date yet unfortunately. What they have said though is that the PS Vita version will feature unique controls thanks to the addition of a touchscreen, which will allow for ‘greater painting accuracy’.
On top of that, there is also going to be support for two-player co-op via WiFi on the PS Vita, which will be exclusive to the PS Vita version – a very nice extra we have to say. For those that are curious, Sony will be handling the port themselves, since the original developers Junction Point have now shut down.
Hopefully Sony has the tools to get the job done though and can come up with a game that is even better than the original released on console and Wii U. Who knows, it may even lead to a third Epic Mickey game to appear on next-gen consoles sometime in the future.
There’s still no Kingdom Hearts game on the PS Vita though, so what are you waiting for Disney? Let us know if this Epic Mickey 2 port interests you or not. What games does the handheld still need?
